Yesterday you may have read that we have achieved all 4 new VMware Master Solution Competencies. But what are those competencies? A couple of days ago, VMware announced the new Master Services Competency (MSC) in addition to the VMware Partner Solution Competency. VMware Partner Competencies recognize sales and technical proficiency, delivery expertise and customer success for next-generation VMware solution areas.

Well now, what is the difference between those two Competencies?

Solution Competency:

A VMware Solution Competency is a partner designation of expertise in VMware virtualization and cloud computing solutions that enables
a partner to profit from the demand in these technologies and differentiate their expertise to customers.
Below you can see the overview of the three main pillars with their associate competencies

SDDC                                                                  EUC                                                       Cloud Services

Business Continuity                                   Desktop as a Service                  Cloud Provider
Hyper-Converged Infrastructure      Desktop Virtualization              VMware Cloud on AWS
Management Automation                     Mobility Management
Management Operations
Network Virtualization
Server Virtualization
Software-Defined Data Center

Master Services Competency:

VMware Master Services Competencies require achieving advanced technical certifications and proof of high-level service capability and
expertise as validated by your customers. Unlike Solution Competencies, a partner organization must demonstrate services delivery
experience by providing three customer references for recently completed projects in order to achieve
a Master Services Competency (in addition to meeting the training requirements).

As a requirement for each of the four new MSC’s, Partner Organizations need 5 certified individuals (VCP), with at least 2
individuals certified in Advanced Professional level (VCAP) and three Customer References are required; submitting these
validates experience and expertise in a specific VMware solution area.

Below you can see the overview of the four new Master Services Competencies

Cloud Management and Automation

Cloud Management and Automation designates expertise in delivery of VMware Cloud Management and Automation solutions and services.
Achieving this competency validates deep understanding and execution of cloud management design principles and methodologies.
VCP : VCP7-CMA or VCP6-CMA
VCAP : VCAP7-CMA Design or VCAP6-CMA Design or VCAP6-CMA Deploy

Data Center Virtualization

Data Center Virtualization designates expertise in delivery of VMware vSphere® environments and digital infrastructure services.
Achieving this competency validates deep understanding and execution of Data Center Virtualization design principles and methodologies.
VPC : VCP6.5-DCV or VCP6-DCV
VCAP : VCAP6.5-DCV Design or VCAP6-DCV Design or VCAP6-DCV Deploy

Desktop and Mobility

Desktop and Mobility designates expertise designing, installing, and maintaining VMware Workspace ONE and Horizon solutions.
Achieving this competency validates deep understanding and execution of desktop and mobility design principles and methodologies
to deliver a scalable and reliable digital workspace.
VCP : VCP7-DTM or VCP6-DTM
VCAP : VCAP7-DTM Design or VCAP6-DTM Design or VCAP6-DTM Deploy

Network Virtualization

Network Virtualization designates partner organizational expertise in delivery of VMware NSX® environments and services. NSX offers
a completely new operational model for networking that forms the foundation of the Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) and enables
creation of entire networks in software, embedding these networks in the hypervisor layer and abstracted from the underlying physical
hardware. Achieving this competency validates partners capabilities in the deployment and optimization of NSX environments.
VCP : VCP6-NV
VCAP : VCAP6-NV Deploy

Partners that successfully achieve the Master Services Competency unlock a set of benefits designed to help strengthen expertise to drive future services growth and deepen customer relationships.

Benefits:
Increased Education Discounts, Access to additional Not for Resale (NFR) licenses, Priority enrollment in VMware Livefire training and the
VMware Center for Advanced Learning (CAL) Academy, Early access to new and under development Solution Enablement Toolkits (SETs), Promotion of your
achievement with a Master Services Competency badge to display online and in written materials, Customer & VMware Field visibility including
badging and a press release announcing Master Competency achievement, Inclusion of the Master Service Competency on your VMware
Partner Locator listing (allows your company to appear in customer searches for partners with MSC expertise)

If all requirements are met it should look something like this:

Happy learning.
