After 3 years of VMworld Barcelona in a row, my private calendar and my employer allowed me to attend VMworld US. This year, I will kill two birds with one stone: I will attend VMworld US for the very first time, and this will be also my first visit to the US. This week will be an Extreme Blast off whole new experiences!

It’s all about choices

As Brian Madden (EUC Office of the CTO at VMware) already tweeted, there are plenty EUC sessions to attend. So, I had to choose. Some of my favorite sessions that an EUC admin must attend:

EUC Champions Panel: Everything You Were Afraid to Ask About VDI
Brian Madden will share his view about VDI in 2018 in its own breakout session. I am curious if the EUC champs share his opinion and how they think what the future of VDI will look like.

Is VDI Dead?
If your is schedule is overloaded like mine, and you missed the EUC Champions Panel. You definitely have to attend the session. of Brian Madden.

The Digital Workspace Keynote: End User Computing and Mobility Live!
Compared to last year, EUC is bigger this year on the VMworld conference. As an EUC consultant, we help customers to drive the digital workspace. We are not there yet, so I am curious to VMware’s latest employee experience and developments of application innovations that help IT design for adoption.

Bonus: 300 lucky attendees to the Digital Workspace Keynote will receive a free VMware Workstation Pro or VMware Fusion Pro License!

Architecting Horizon 7 Enterprise: The Official Reference Architecture
In case you have not heard of VMware Workspace ONE and VMware Horizon 7 Enterprise Edition On-premises Reference Architecture, the reference architecture is intended to provide detailed configuration information and an example architecture for deploying all products in an integrated manner. As an EUC consultant, I already understand how to use it, but I will attend this session in the hope to get some new insights which are not covered in The Official Reference Architecture.

Designing for the Unexpected: Delivering IT on a Boat with VMware Horizon
VMware Horizon on a boat for a maritime expedition, how cool is that! For this reason alone, I will attend this session. Naturally, I’m curious to the complexity of the environment, and the challenges that this entails.

Bonus: you can win a signed copy of Johan van Amersfoort’s VDI Design Guide.

Explore the latest End-User Computing Hands-On Labs

This year, new End-User Computing self-paced labs will be available during VMworld US and Barcelona. The Hands-On Labs are a great way to test drive new products or increase your skills with something with which you have limited experience with no installation required. You can definitely find me in the Hands-On Labs area to get the most out of my time at VMworld to take a Sneak Peek of these shiny new labs:

  • SPL-1957-03-UEM – Configure Workspace ONE to provide rich analytics from your deployments and applications. Automate operational tasks and operating system updates and patches.
  • SPL-1957-02-UEM – Explore using Workspace ONE Identity Manager as the primary identity provider, or federate your authentication to other third-party identity providers to provide single sign-on capabilities and access policies that provide a rich user experience.
  • SPL-1957-04-UEM – Use Workspace ONE UEM to manage Windows 10 endpoints with policy configuration, OS patch management, software distribution, and security. Explore SCCM co-management capabilities to transition from traditional to modern management for Windows 10.
  • SPL-1951-05-VWS – VMware Horizon 7 Enterprise – Security, Operations, and Troubleshooting – Learn to troubleshoot certificates and use the Horizon Help Desk Tool and the new Performance Tracker.

All the new labs will become public in the Hands-On Labs catalog later this fall.

VMworld has always been about the amazing people of the vCommunity
